The Central Texas College (CTC) Fine Arts Department announced its fall semester guest artist performance will feature clarinetist Mark Arritola on Tuesday, September 25. The concert will be held in the L.B.J. Fine Arts auditorium (Bldg. 112) on campus at 7:30 p.m.
With a bachelor’s degree in music from the Eastman School of Music, Arritola was a New York Foundation of the Arts Scholar. He also completed a master’s degree of music performance at Southern Methodist University as a Meadows Artistic scholar. Arritola is currently completing a doctoral degree in clarinet performance at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as the principal clarinet of the Texas National Guard Band. He also performs in several professional orchestras in the area.
Arritola teaches a studio of 20 clarinet students as well as student chamber music groups for the Austin Chamber Music Center. He has performed in numerous summer music festivals including the Manchester Music Festival in Vermont, the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado and the National Orchestral Institute in Maryland. In addition, Arritola has served as an adjunct faculty member of CTC, Temple College and Georgia State University.
A meet-and-greet reception for the artist will be held following the performance in which the audience is invited to visit with Arritola. Tickets for the guest artist performance are $5 for adults and students over the age of 12 and can be purchased at the door that night. Proceeds will benefit the CTC Concert Series Scholarship fund.
